About
Somebody's whole job, on a desk.
BrickWorks is a small workshop in the United States, run by a handful of grown adults who never stopped building. We design and hand-assemble brick dioramas of the work people actually do: the biolab bench, the analyst’s dual-monitor desk, the classroom at the end of term.
A gift that only fits one desk
Most gifts for a colleague are generic on purpose: a mug, a card, a gift voucher, something that would work equally well for anyone in the building. A diorama lands because it is unmistakably their desk, their equipment, their small daily indignity, rendered in brick and set on a shelf where everyone who walks past will get it.
That is the whole brief this shop works to. Each model is designed around one profession and built from ordinary LEGO® bricks bought part by part, so the scene can be as specific as it needs to be instead of as generic as a boxed set has to be.
BrickWorks is run by a small team of brick lovers in Massachusetts, Maryland, and Georgia, and has been selling on Etsy since the start of 2025. Everything happens in home workshops, with no warehouse and no production line behind it.
What we make
- The Biolab ScientistFume hood, microscope, and a lab coat over scrubs.
- The Finance AnalystDual-monitor setup, a steaming mug, and a desk that never sleeps.
- The TeacherA classroom scene for the person who runs one.
New professions are added as they are designed. If yours is missing, tell us which one.
How we work
- Packed after you order
- Nothing sits on a shelf, already boxed up. Once you order, we pull that set's pieces and pack them fresh, which is why we would rather quote an honest turnaround than a fast one.
- The same hands, start to finish
- Design, sourcing, assembly, packing, and the reply to your email are handled by the same few people. That is the ceiling on how much we can make, and it is deliberate.
- The details carry the joke
- A lab coat over scrubs. A second monitor nobody asked for. A mug that never gets washed. The recognisable detail is the whole product, and the rest is scaffolding.
- What you see is what ships
- Photos are of the actual build. What is in the picture is what arrives, and if something is out of stock the listing says so.
How it started
The first build wasn’t a product. It was a gift for a partner: their desk, rebuilt in brick, down to the details only someone who shared a life with them would think to include. Watching that land is what turned into BrickWorks.
Follow the builds
Works in progress, finished desks, and the odd part-sorting time lapse. If you want to see a build before it becomes a listing, this is where it shows up.
